When the conference was over and after the cleaning the video/Audio Team sat together for a “Closing-Sandwich-Meal”. Our Director Viktor, his wife and his little daughter (see picture below) were also there. Especially the little cutie was really hungry!!!
We didn’t make it for the Meal gathering at the Skatepark so we brought everything to the „Werkstatt“ at the church and put it on the table. Yummy!! We had sandwich, tomatoes, cheese and much more – but we didn’t just have healthy food but also chips :) A big bowl of chips were put on the table – oh dear, just in front of the little girl.
Like you can imagine the sandwich was “out” and for the little one and the chips bowl was like heaven. After a while, after a lot of chips filled up her stomach I saw how Viktor talked lovingly to his daughter “This chip will be the last one because it is not good for your little tummy to just eat chips – ok?!” The little one nodded, said “ok” and ate the chips with enjoyment. BUT there were many more chips in this bowl – just in front of her and now you can think about what happened next…
The little girl started to cry because no one gave her any more chips even after she made it clear that she wanted more… The “grown ups” probably didn’t get what she wanted because they continued to eat but no one gave her another.
I waited for her mom „to have pity on her” – and give her “another one” but she just said “She needs to learn that when Daddy says “no” it means “no” and it is for her own good, because we know it’s not good for her to just eat chips.
The little one was astonished that she didn’t get another chip even though she cried so much, Daddy didn’t seem to care.
In all of that Victor’s patience impressed me the most! He took her on his lap, explained to her once again why he didn’t give her another chip and that she agreed, to their agreement and that it was all for her best.
But then what he said next still brings tears in my eyes “Honey you know what? Daddy has some desert for you in the car – something that is much better than this!
You can’t imagine how big her eyes got and this big smile on her face and the chips… well, they weren’t important anymore – because Daddy had something far more special for her.
Why do I write that…
Well, isn’t that a picture for us?!!
Our father in heaven says in His word, that ALL things work together for GOOD for those who love him and that HE knows what’s BEST for us?!
Yes, there are things and situations in our lives where God says “That’s not good for you” or where it seems that He just doesn’t want to give us something or He even takes things away” and we start to cry like little girls, accuse God, and say “Why God?”
And then we see others, who seem to be allowed to do it and where God does things and we ask “Why not in my life God?” I mean the enemy also reminds us of that a lot right?! >Why doesn’t God do it also in your life when you are sooo special to Him?
But then, especially then, God sits us on His lap in His love and patience, puts His arm around us, calms us and says “My dear child, I know - I know you are hurt, I understand! I know what’s best for you, even when you don’t see it in this moment right now! But you know what? I have something much better for you”…
God knows what we need He promised, that He has THE BEST for us and that ALL things work together for good, and that He will give us THE BEST in HIS timing, then, when its good for us…
„Delight yourself also in the Lord and He shall give you the desires of your heart!
Commit yourself to the Lord, Trust also in Him and He shall bring it to pass”
(Psalm 37:4-5)
When we trust in God, when we stay seated on His lap and listen to His heartbeat and His plan, then He will give us what our heart desires, what He has actually put in there Himself…
>Something better …
